Tax Wars

Tax Wars

— For Home Use Only —

In the past 40 years, multinational corporations have shaken up the global economy. They have become immensely wealthy, earning over $3 trillion in profits each year. Yet, they pay hardly any taxes. TAX WARS candidly illustrates how multinationals move and manipulate profits in order to avoid taxation.

Governments seem powerless in the face of tax evasion, which deprives them of hundreds of billions in revenue, while inequalities, poverty, and populism are on the rise. Funding for a fairer and more sustainable society is possible: all it takes is putting an end to multinational tax evasion. This is the goal of a handful of NGOs and international experts. Established in 2015, the Independent Commission for the Reform of International Corporate Taxation (ICRICT) has doggedly pursued the creation of a global tax on the profits of multinationals and continue the fight as they emphasize the urgency of global tax system reform.

Combining stories from four continents with futuristic animations inspired by the Star Wars universe, TAX WARS tells the story of how the ideas of these economists have gradually succeeded in turning public opinion towards fair taxation on some of the most powerful actors in the global economy.
